Housing
  • Expand home ownership throughout the neighborhood
  • Reduce rental property difficulties
  • Maintain the appearance, historic character, & structural integrity of neighborhood housing, maintain the variety of quality neighborhood housing opportunities
  • Develop a network of housing assistance providers, realtors, and lending institutions
 
Health Care & Human Services
  • Develop free and/or sliding scale clinics & health education programs for all ages
  • Secure available services which protect the health of neighborhood residents, increase resident awareness of available human services agencies operating in the area
  • Monitor neighborhood-based facilities for group health care, group homes, & day care for children & the elderly
 
Land Use
  • Do infill development within commercial districts
  • Eliminate residential uses in the industrial corridor
  • Maintain other existing residential and institutional uses
  • Indentify concerns & priorities; communicate them to city development officials
 
Urban Design
  • Development appropriate relationships between co-existing commercial and residential uses
  • Create identifiable neighborhood entrances
  • Improve spatial relationships between industrial properties and surrounding land uses
  • Maximize the potential of major street intersections
  • Develop connections between public, institutional, and commercial building with public spaces & the public way
  • Preserve architectural & physical order
  • Promote responsible development, secure city adoption of design/redevelopment plans
  • Preserve & enhance district quality of all historic properties
 
Neighborhood Economy
  • Improve commercial strips, increase the integrity commercial districts

Public Health & Safety
  • Development effective crime reduction programs
  • Expand positive youth development activities

Education
  • Support the development of community schools
  • Organize an Education Task Force of teachers, parents, students, & community leaders addressing neighborhood education issues
  • Expand the availability of school facilities for community activities

Cultural Activities & Public Art
  • Carry out special events that promote the unique qualities of the neighborhood

  • Maintain the physical condition of sidewalks & roadways
